Marine Direct is pleased to offer an alternative engine flushing system specifically for petrol and diesel inboard engines and sterndrives. This system will work equally well on any marine engine, including small and large diesel engines too.
The benefit of flushing your engines after use will result in minimal salt build up in raw water cooled manifolds and also in heat exchangers. If the entire engine is raw (salt) water cooled then salt deposits within the engine block cooling channels will be minimal resulting in a more effectively cooled engine. This all theoretically leads to longer engine life.
The system:
The Salt X liquid is pre mixed into the correct ratio for your engine operating at idle. This ratio depends upon the flow rate of the engine at idle and the estimated raw cooling water capacity of the engine:

5 litre raw water cooled petrol engine for protection of engine block, manifolds and risers : 12 litres

5 litre fresh water cooled petrol engine for protection of manifolds, risers and heat exchanger: 6 litres

300 hp diesel engine: 15 litres
We will provide you with the correct flow rate to make up the correct mixture ratio. Its very simple! The reservoir pump with its known pumping flow rate injects the fluid via a one way valve into a T fitting which is plumbed into the raw water cooling system.
++++ Note the volume calculation of the raw water must include all pipes and hoses in the line after the T fitting or injection point++++
The kit comes with parts required for the majority of systems. It includes:
1" or 1.25" Copper T fitting,
12 or 24 volt reservoir with injection pump,
Brass cut off valve,
4 litres of Salt X Concentrate (Value $120)
Switch, 1/4" heater hose,
6 stainless hose clamps.
NOTE: TWIN ENGINE OPTION INCLUDES TWO COMPLETE KITS AND 8 LITRES TOTAL OF CONCENTRATE.
In certain cases the system can also be plumbed directly to the engine block and you will require a 1/4" hose tail with thread suitable for your engine block. This part is available at any hose fitting shop such as ENZED.
A simple flick of a switch for the correct number of seconds is all that is necessary to inject the fluid into the raw water system.
